It is rich in Vitamins A, D, E and selenium, and has optimum levels of calcium, phosphorus, copper, zinc, manganese and iodine, all of which have important roles to play in the nutrition of broodmares and growing youngstock. The requirements of breeding stock, especially lactating mares and growing youngsters, for vitamins, minerals and trace elements are extremely high. When meeting these requirements by feeding forage with compounds, many horses become overweight and may develop problems e.g. D.O.D. in youngstock.
